Sandra Lemp

Sandra Lemp is a designer and dressmaker based in Bern, Switzerland. Between 1995/1999 she studied fashion design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst in Basel. During the study she worked at the Vivienne Westwood Studio in London for four month. Among other honors she twice won the Swiss Design Award (1999/2002). In 2015 she was offered a six month residency stay at the Red House Studio in the middle of New York City‘s East Village.

Her designs are filled with a great passion for handcraft, colors, subtle details, precision and a concrete look. She believes in the value of a garment as a special piece, a second skin, and therefore aimes to develop high quality fashion as a unique and comfortable shell for the wearer. All the pieces from the Demi–Couture collection are handmade at the studio in Bern. Her philosophy has always been to use as few resources as possible and to work sustainably. She teaches projects related on the topics of Fashion, Costume History, Art and Design. In the collaboration project POST GLOBALIZED STYLE BOOK (working title), she works with the graphic designer Jörg Kühni ( on a participatory design experiment to encourage more individual and contemporary vestimentary statements. The project is supported by the Berner Design Stiftung ( and will be presented in spring 2020.
